Renee’ Fulkerson is a reliable student-focused yoga instructor and posture educator. With commitment and devotion to yoga and the instruction of yoga. She enjoys inspiring others to trust their body, get moving and feel the positive effects of their practice. Renee is optimistic and friendly, with a spirit for community.
Renee’s formal yoga teacher training studies began in Hatha Yoga with Scott Miller of Western Yoga College. Here she began to study Sadhana or The Yogic Path. The Yamas and Niyamas – yogas ethical practices, postures, breath, withdrawal, concentration, absorption, and integration. Kirtan, chanting, and mantra were also a large part of this program. After completing her Hatha Yoga Teacher Training, she and her husband Peter opened Equada Outfitters and Yoga in the Southern California Mountain community of Big Bear Lake. She began teaching various styles of yoga. Was mentored by senior teachers and attended the inaugural year of Bhakti Fest. The three-day yoga festival allowed her to practice with senior yoga teachers and musicians from various yogic disciplines. Renee’ continued teaching yoga classes and returned to Scott Miller. And Western Yoga College to delve deeper into the study of the Yogic Path. After completing her five hundred hours in Hatha Yoga Teacher Training, she began to concentrate on the studio, and a yoga community was born. The studio offered a variety of scheduled yoga classes and a community donation yoga class. With all proceeds benefiting her local animal shelter and food bank. And providing low-cost or no-cost activities for children. An opportunity and relocation for Renee’ and her family came after several years of service to her community through Equada Outfitters and Yoga.
Kauai is known as the Garden Island of the Hawaiian island chain. This island was going to be her and her family’s new home base. Renee’ took this time to deepen her yoga practice and began her three-year commitment as an Event Coordinator. For a brand new and upcoming three-day yoga festival ~ Big Bear Yoga Festival. Taking, place in the Southern California Mountain community of Big Bear Lake. That allowed her to travel to the mainland frequently. Teach yoga classes and continue to attend and study at Bhakti Fest and later added Shakti Fest. When she returned to Kauai, she began a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training at Kauai Yoga School with Michaelle Edwards, creator of YogAlign. The YogAlign training allowed her to combine her prior certification as a Massage Practitioner from California School of the Physical Arts and knowledge of anatomy into the practice. Upon completing her YogAlign training, she began to transition from her commitments on the mainland to renting a space offering weekly YogAlign classes at Fit Lab Kauai.
Renee’ is in the process of completing her Nada Yoga-Yoga of Sound Teacher Training with the creator Anandra George of True Freedom Coaching. The Heart of Sound is the first yoga teacher training and is focused entirely on the transformational power of sound. Module One she attended on Kauai in total immersion into the living sounds of Sanskrit, mantra, chanting, and kirtan. Renee’ looks forward to Module two offered in India with a focus on service.
In July of 2018, she completed a two-year, successful commitment of YogAlign Class offerings at Fit Lab Kauai. Renee’s YogAlign Classes found a new home at Anaina Hou Community Park Classroom in Kilauea and Hot Yoga Princeville. Along with here weekly YogAlign Class offerings you, can also find Renee’ periodically teaching at Michaelle Edwards, founder of The YogAlign Methods Mana Yoga Center in Princeville. In the fall of 2020, Renee’ returned to Kauai Yoga School with Michaelle Edwards and completed a ten-day YogAlign Posture Educator Certification course. She has stepped back from studio offerings due to global health concerns, focused on smaller classes and private one on one Yoga offerings. Renee’ is Looking to the future and leading her own YogAlign Teacher Training programs. When not on Kauai and in her travels Renee’ can be found teaching in various yoga studios and festivals, sharing the gift of health with others.
Renee’ feels blessed and honored to have studied with many innovative teachers along her yogic path. Some in the guise of a traditional teacher sharing their knowledge, learning lessons and gaining insight from nature and this human experience she calls Life. Renee’ is looking forward to the future and its infinite possibilities of getting back to working with athletes and facilitating some yoga gatherings on Kauai and beyond. For now, you can find her doing what she loves most, sharing her love of yoga with others in any way that this may transpire.
