Education and Training:
Renee’s formal yoga teacher training studies began in Hatha Yoga with Scott Miller of Western Yoga College. Here she began the study of Sadhana or The Yogic Path. The Yamas and Niyamas – yoga’s ethical practices, postures, breath, withdrawal, concentration, absorption, and integration. Kirtan, chanting and mantra were also a large part of this program. Following the completion of her Hatha Yoga Teacher Training she and her husband Peter opened Equada Outfitters and Yoga in the Southern California Mountain town of Big Bear Lake. Where she began teaching various styles of yoga, was mentored by senior teachers, and attended the inaugural year of Bhakti Fest. The three-day yoga festival allowed her to practice with senior yoga teachers and musicians from a variety of yogic disciplines. Renee’ continued teaching yoga classes and returned back to Scott Miller and Western Yoga College to delve deeper into the study of the Yogic Path. After completing her five hundred hours in Hatha Yoga Teacher Training she began to concentrate on the studio and a yoga community was born. Along with the variety of scheduled yoga classes a community donation yoga class was also offered with all proceeds benefiting her local animal shelter and food bank as well as providing low cost or no cost activities for kids. An opportunity and relocation for Renee’ and her family came after several years of service to her community through Equada Outfitters and Yoga.
Kauai the Garden Island of the Hawaiian Island chain was to be her and her families new home base. Renee’ took this time to deepen her personal yoga practice and began her three-year commitment as an Event Coordinator for a new an upcoming three-day yoga festival ~ Big Bear Yoga Festival to take place in the Southern California Mountain town of Big Bear Lake. This allowed her to travel to the mainland frequently, teach yoga classes and continue to attend and study at Bhakti Fest and later added Shakti Fest. When she returned to Kauai she began a Yoga Teacher Training with Michaelle Edwards the creator of YogAlign ~ Pain free yoga from your inner core. The YogAlign training allowed her to combine her prior certification as a Massage Practitioner from California School of the Physical Arts and knowledge of anatomy into the practice. Upon completion of her YogAlign training she began to transition from her commitments on the mainland to renting a space offering weekly YogAlign classes at Fit Lab Kauai.
Renee’ is currently in the process of completing her Nada Yoga-Yoga of Sound Teacher Training with the creator Anandra George of True Freedom Coaching. The Heart of Sound is the worlds first yoga teacher training focused entirely on the transformational power of sound. Module One she attended on Kauai in total immersion into the living sounds of Sanskrit, mantra, chanting and kirtan. Renee’ looks forward to Module Two which is offered in India with total focus on Service.
Renee’ feels blessed and honored to have studied with many innovative teachers along her yogic path. Some in the guise of a traditional teacher sharing his or her knowledge, learning lessons and gaining insight from nature and this human experience she calls Life. Renee’ is looking forward to the future and its infinite possibilities like getting back to working with athletes and facilitating some yoga gatherings on Kauai and beyond. For now, you can find her doing what she loves most sharing her love of yoga with others in any way that this may transpire.
